The New Heads Network (NHN) is dedicated to your success. The program provides professional development and personal support for heads of school in their first two years of headship. The New Heads Network primarily serves ISACS member schools.

NHN is a mostly virtual program for 2023-24. The program will begin in August 2023 and continue through May 2024, and include eight, 90-minute Zoom meetings, ten 30-minute thought-partner sessions, with the exception of December 2023.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Heads in their first two years of headship
Heads with prior headship experience, who are new to their current school and/or new to ISACS
Interim Heads & Heads Elect
Heads who participated in the ISACS 2022-23 New Heads Network also may register to participate in the 2023-24 New Heads Network. Please see below for more details.

The Zoom meetings will take place 12:30 – 2:00 pm central/1:30 – 3:00 pm eastern on the following eight dates unless otherwise noted:

Date & Time for In-Person Dinner & Program

In conjunction with the 2024 Heads Conference, the New Heads Network will meet in-person on Wednesday, January 24, 5:00 – 8:00 pm at the Swissotel in Chicago for Dinner & Conversation with special guest Sara Schwartz from Schwartz Hannum for a Legal Q & A.
We hope you will travel to Chicago, attend this gathering of New Heads, and stay to attend the 2024 Heads Conference on January 25-26, 2024.
ISACS will offer NHN participants a discount on the Conference registration. More details to follow regarding the 2024 Heads Conference & plans for our time together on January 24.

Monthly Zoom Meetings
Eight, 90-minute Zoom calls featuring nationally renowned expert presenters, based on a flexible annual curriculum informed by the needs of those in the cohort. Each session includes substantial dedicated time to dive into heads’ current topics and to build a collegial cadre of peers. We strongly encourage you to join the live sessions, but for your convenience most Zoom sessions will be recorded and be accessible to New Heads Network participants through June 30, 2024. Monthly Thought-Partner Sessions with Lou Salza or Mary Menacho
Access to ten, 30-minute personal thought partner sessions with Lou Salza or Mary Menacho. These sessions are a time for you and any topic you want to explore. Lou and Mary will help you co-create practical solutions or next steps. Monthly (August – June, not including December).

To register for any ISACS event, you MUST be logged into your contact record in the new system.

CREATE A NEW/SIGN INTO YOUR CONTACT RECORD

(This is for anyone who needs to create a new contact record or has not signed into the Member Portal and created a new password since July 2021.)

Visit the Member Portal and select the “Sign-Up” tab
Enter your SCHOOL email address & create a new password
- Make sure your email is spelled correctly or you will not receive the verification email during the next step
- Do not attempt to use the “reset your password” function as all passwords were erased for security purposes when we migrated systems in July 2021
Follow the prompts to send the verification email and then click on the “Confirm my account” link in that email
- Check your quarantine, spam, and junk folders
Identifying and/or Creating a New Contact Record
- If you were in the previous ISACS database, the new system will identify you based on your name and/or email domain, link your record to the school, and prompt you to update
- If you were NOT in the previous ISACS database, the new system will begin the contact record creation process, during which, be sure to search for your school to be properly linked

LOG INTO YOUR CONTACT RECORD

(This is for those who have already logged into their contact record in the Member Portal and created their new password after July 2021.)

Visit the Member Portal and select the “Log In” tab
Enter your SCHOOL email address and password
- If you forgot your password, click on “reset your password”*
  - *Resetting your password will only work if you have previously logged into the new system and created a new password. Otherwise, there is technically no password to reset as all of them were erased during migration in July 2021.

*If you are a new to the school and do not yet have a school email when registering, please use an email that you check frequently. You can update your contact record with your school email when you receive it. ISACS will remind participants to update their contract records.

HOW TO REGISTER

REGISTERING FOR THE NEW HEADS NETWORK

Please note that registration is per person. Each person must register individually.
There are no group registrations or group discounts.

Once you have logged into your contact record via the ISACS Member Portal, click on the "EVENTS" tab in the black tool bar, click on "Register for Events", scroll to the bottom & select the thumbnail icon for the "2022-23 New Heads Network".
Once you are on the event page, click on "REGISTRATION" (blue hyperlink under the date) to begin the registration process.
Follow the registration steps in sequential order using the blue “Next” button in the bottom right corner to advance. Make sure to answer all required questions.
Payment can be made via electronic check/bank/ACH, credit card, OR you may select "Bill (School Name)" or "Send me an invoice/pay at a later time". You are responsible for forwarding the invoice on to your school for payment.
Once registration is complete, the registrant will receive a confirmation email with details and a separate email that includes a paid receipt or an invoice. As the first meeting date approaches, registrants may receive additional confirmation emails from ISACS.

REGISTRATION FEES

$1000 for ISACS members and includes the following:
- Eight, 90-minute virtual group meetings.
- Ten, 30-minute thought partner sessions.
- Dinner and program with 2023-24 New Heads at the 2024 Heads Conference in Chicago on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 5:00 - 8:00 pm central.
- Please review the "Registration Details" tab above.
- ISACS will provide, first-time participants in the New Heads Network a 50% discount on the 2024 Heads Conference registration fee.
$500 for 2022-23 NHN Participants interested in participating in the 2032-24 New Heads Network program and includes the following:
- Eight, 90-minute virtual group meetings.
- Ten, 30-minute thought partner sessions.
- Dinner and program with 2023-24 New Heads at the 2024 Heads Conference in Chicago on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, 5:00 - 8:00 pm central.
- ISACS will provide 2022-23 New Heads Network participants who register for 2023-24 New Heads Network a 25% discount on the 2024 Heads Conference registration fee.

For 2023-24 NAIS/INH Participants:
- ISACS & NAIS offer a 25% discount off your registration fees for each of the programs.
- If you are participating in the July 2023 NAIS Institute for New Heads, please contact Karen Zeitlin at karen@isacs.org prior to registering for the ISACS New Heads Network to receive a coupon code. Please note, this 25% discount cannot be combined with other discounts offered by NAIS or ISACS.

Registration Details

Registration Confirmation Emails and Zoom Link Information

Once registration is complete, a confirmation email will automatically be sent to the registrant which will include the Zoom link and complete NHN details.
Prior to the first Zoom Meeting ISACS will send Outlook Meeting Requests for all eight Zoom Meetings.
Approximately one week prior to each Zoom meeting, ISACS will send a reminder email with details of the meeting.
ISACS will send email reminders to set up monthly thought-partner sessions with either Mary Menacho or Lou Salza.

If you do not receive these emails prior to the New Heads Network, please contact Karen Zeitlin at karen@isacs.org. It is possible your email address was entered incorrectly OR your registration was not completed.

Do you need an account to participate?
ISACS recommends everyone signs up for a free Zoom Basic Account, because while some platforms like "Zoom Meetings" do not require an account to participate, others like "Zoom Webinars" or "Zoom Sessions" (used for Parent & Trustee Series) will for security reasons.

How do I signup for Zoom?
You can sign up for a free Zoom Basic Account.

How much does Zoom cost?
A Zoom Basic account is free. Learn more about available Zoom plans and pricing.

Joining a Zoom Meeting

How do I join the Zoom Meeting/Webinar/Session Live?
Follow the directions provided in the registration confirmation email or in additional communications from ISACS.

How do I join computer/device audio?
On most devices, you will sync your computer/device audio by clicking "Join Audio", "Join with Computer Audio". Click on "Audio" to access the audio settings. Learn more about connecting your audio.

Can I Use Bluetooth Headset?
Yes, as long as the Bluetooth device is compatible with the computer or mobile device that you are using.

Do I have to have a webcam to join on Zoom?
While you are not required to have a webcam to join a Zoom Meeting/Webinar/Session, ISACS recommends that you do have one and you turn it on, when applicable, to capture the full experience. If not, you will continue to be able to listen and speak during the meeting, share your screen, and view the webcam video of other participants.
