The New Realities in Crisis Management

Audience: Faculty, Administrators, and Trustees

Are you doing your share of social listening for your school? Are you staying on top of the hot topics? Join Hulbert for an overview of the issues that are trending and how you can be prepared for what is looming. With the rise of social media, crises can emerge and accelerate with great speed. And we know that the fallout from a poorly managed crisis can have serious and significant consequences for a school. How to get your school into a crisis-ready mode and the steps you should have in place before and during a crisis will be discussed. A crisis will go away but how it goes away is what your constituents remember.

Jane Hulbert is partner of The Jane Group, a global crisis communications firm based outside of Chicago. The firm has worked with hundreds of independent schools both nationally and internationally. On retainer to NAIS since 2002, and consulting to their member schools on all crisis issues, The Jane Group has also managed some of the most high profile independent school crises. Jane, and partner Jim, a lawyer, are frequent speakers at education associations around the world. They also offer crisis media training in addition to child protection training.  Jane Hulbert previously worked in communications at McDonald’s Corporation, where she managed the infamous hot coffee incident. She is a graduate of Park Tudor School.
