School Description:

We are a vibrant community of approximately 560 students from within a 40-mile radius of Columbus. Students reflect diverse academic, ethnic, religious, and socio-economic backgrounds. An overall 9:1 student/faculty ratio ensures that students will receive attention appropriate to their academic, social, emotional, and physical well-being.

Our skilled community of educators present a rigorous academic program designed to prepare students for the demands of college and the responsibilities of a lifetime. With approximately 100 faculty and staff members, more than 65 percent of our faculty hold masters and/or doctorate degrees.  Technology is seamlessly embedded in the academic culture. It is our goal that every member of our community be able to research, manipulate, analyze, create, and communicate effectively as critical and ethical users of technology.  Lower and Middle School students have computer classes, and use Tablet-PCs, laptops, and SmartBoards in their classrooms.  All students in Grades 9-12 are participants in a 1:1 Tablet PC environment, whereby each student and teacher has his/her own personal computer.

The eight-acre campus, located in Bexley, two miles from downtown Columbus, houses four divisions: Program for Young Children (preschool and kindergarten); Lower School (Grades 1-5); Middle School (Grades 6-8); and Upper School (Grades 9-12). Two fully automated libraries, containing over 33,000 titles and numerous Internet services, Math and Writing centers, an arena theater, three art studios, a photography lab, a swimming pool, two gymnasiums, technology complexes, and six science laboratories complement the teaching program and facilitate student learning.  In addition, Cynthia’s Woods, a 100-acre property near Rocky Fork in Gahanna located only a few miles from the main campus is a living laboratory for all CSG students as they explore various science, ecology, and nature topics.

The athletic program provides balance to the academic life of the school. Students learn the importance of physical fitness, teamwork, and being good sports. CSG is a member of the Central Catholic League (CCL) of the Ohio High School Athletic Association. An athletic complex is located on Kirk Campus, a nearby property of over 70 acres, which houses running tracks, field hockey and lacrosse fields, two soccer fields, tennis courts, nature trails, and a retreat house.  A wellness center, which includes a natatorium, a fitness center, and a yoga/dance studio among its amenities, is under construction.

Professionally, Columbus School for Girls is accredited by the Independent School Association of the Central States and is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools, Ohio Association of Independent Schools, the National Coalition of Girls’ Schools, and the National Association of Principals of Schools for Girls. In addition, CSG is a member of the Cum Laude Society, the College Board, and the National Association for College Admission Counseling.
