In the morning, Pat Bassett will present two sessions – Governance 101/201/301 focusing on three levels of governance of high functioning boards followed by a session on trends impacting the independent school sector. In the afternoon, Allen J. Proctor will share the need for schools to build more sustainable business models, while examining how some commonly held notions of fiscal responsibility, such as budget balance and building endowment, can harm rather than support the reliability and sustainability of educational programs. Trustees will learn ways to meet the emerging needs of governing a 21st century school while also maintaining a firm commitment to financial sustainability.
