Certain benefits accrue to those who are invited to serve on a visiting team.
First, perhaps, is the honor associated with being asked to be in this select group. Not only is there distinction in being asked to serve, but also there is honor and pride in representing one’s own school in this special undertaking.
Additionally, a certain camaraderie develops as the team begins to get to know each other and work together on this special task. It is not uncommon to attend a conference or meeting later on and become reacquainted with someone with whom you have served on a visiting team.
Finally, it is almost impossible to spend three and one-half days in someone else’s school and not come back with at least one good idea that will serve you and your students well back home. And, usually, you will return with a greater understanding and better appreciation for your own school.
