The collective vision and creativity of our teachers has been recognized for a long time at ISACS. We are the only association of schools that invites teachers to play a leadership role alongside Heads of Schools. Each school has two votes regarding ISACS policies: one by the Head of School and one by the Teacher Representative. Generally, ISACS Reps. serve a term of three years.
"Teacher Reps" are appointed by the Head of School. In large schools (enrollment over 700), where more than one Teacher Rep. might be necessary; each division or campus might identify a Rep. Their responsibilities will impact their workload and will also require the outlay of funds for conference attendance and travel. Here is a list of expectations for the Teacher Rep:
- Role modeling for peers the commitment to professional development and life-long learning.
- Serving as the key contact at the school level for professional development matters and assuming a leadership role in professional development activities for the faculty.
- Serving as the school's liaison on professional development matters at the local, state, and regional association levels
- Serving as a member of their state or regional TSC (Teacher Services Committee) and attending those meetings.
- Promoting at the school ISACS Professional development opportunities and events.
- Attending the ISACS Annual Conference, November 3-4 in Louisville, KY.
- Using and encouraging the use of ISACS website (www.isacs.org) to point colleagues in the direction of useful resources, articles, and links.
- Keeping ISACS informed of dates, programs and details regarding professional development opportunities occurring at the local and state level for posting on the ISACS calendar of events.
- Critiquing the services of ISACS through periodic informal and formal evaluations.
