The Independent Schools Association of the Central States is a not for profit (501) (c) (3) business incorporated by the state of Illinois. Member participation and decision-making are paramount components of our organizational structure. ISACS accomplishes this through four meetings each year of the Board of Trustees. The Board is comprised of teachers, trustees, and administrators who are elected annually by the membership. ISACS especially values its democratic tradition of teacher representation on the Board of Trustees. Direction of the association’s activities and services is the responsibility of a full-time president and a small office staff. Much of our work is carried on by volunteers who plan and provide professional growth activities, serve on accreditation teams and participate on board committees. Members of the board usually chair standing committees to plan services, review and oversee the accreditation program, supervise financial accountability, plan activities for faculty and trustees, and address timely issues of concern to schools.
